Starcraft 2 Unit Death Animations
By Andrew Po
Starcraft 2 is an upcoming sequel to the wildly popular Starcraft Real Time Strategy video game franchise. Millions of players all around the world enjoyed and still continue to enjoy Starcraft in competitive tournaments despite the game being over 10 years old! Truly a testament to how well Blizzard made it and how balanced the 3 races are. The new SC2 promises new and improved graphics, an advanced physics engine, gameplay improvements, new units and buildings and continuing storyline. Much like in my previous intel on Diablo 3 Monster Death Animations I'd like to focus specifically on the unit death animations in Starcraft II. The first Starcraft is rather poor graphics-wise (no wonder, seeing how it was made more than 10 years ago as I said before). The new SC2 will however have tons of different unit animations for all the different situations. For example, if being shot by a heavy canon a Terran marine will die differently than when being sliced by a Protoss zealot (melee unit)! Same can be said for all units really, and only when you realize how many different ones we have between all three races that one really gets to appreciate all the hard work of Blizzard. |
