What Are Windows Runtime Errors?

Most computer users probably have encountered the so-called exe error at some point. These problems are also called runtime errors, or in other words, errors which occur when a certain program is running (aka executing - hence the .exe). What causes exe errors? Well, in most cases it has to do with the program itself. Perhaps it is incompatible with the operating system you're trying to run it on (such as an outdated application on new Windows system). Sometimes this can be solved by launching the app in Compatibility Mode. Maybe the program got corrupted while you were downloading it off the internet. If we're talking about video games, it might be that the game isn't compatible with your video card drivers, or that you need to update your DirectX. It's not out of the question that the program you're trying to launch is faulty itself. In that case, downloading the newest version might help with the problem you're having. It gets a bit more serious if the exe error is caused by a system file. In that case you might have to resort to a Windows repair, using System Restore, or System File Checker to replace the faulty file. |
