Why is Anime Addicting?
I'm going to do a short analysis of why people find Japanese anime so interesting, and even addicting. Anime is basically Japanese animation (cartoons), and for the sake of simplicity, I'll just keep calling it "anime" in this write-up (I know some people can get very picky about this). I will also be comparing it to the western cartoons. First of all, anime is created not only for kids, but also for adults (unlike western cartoons). It can explore serious themes only adults would understand; it may contain strong language, nudity, blood, gore and horror. Second, anime usually follows a storyline throughout all the episodes; you can't just randomly watch any episode like it usually is with cartoons. In this sense it's much like TV series you all know, such as Lost. Third, animes can get very inventive and creative; unlike movies with live actors, there's nothing limiting the fantasy of the artist who draws them. An incredible anime would cost much less than an incredible movie; that was actually the reason for creation of Japanese anime some time in 1970s in the first place. I'm sure you could think of many more reasons of why anime is so great if you're a fan like me. There are many animes to choose for all tastes; almost anyone can find something they like, unless they dislike the very idea of anime. Like with movies, there are bad, cheesy, stereotypical animes; but there also are ones that you will keep thinking for days after watching them.
